We wanted to share a delightful video shot and composed by Simone Guicciardi, a friend of Hester van Eeghen. Orange Dream

Orange is next on the HVE US Color Bar.

Did you know that orange is the national color of The Netherlands, Hester's homeland? The Dutch take their orange very seriously, and of course, it is one of Hester's brand colors.

Orange is a secondary color, resulting from the combination of red and yellow. It reflects the energy of red and the happiness of yellow.

Fun and flamboyant, orange radiates excitement, warmth and enthusiasm. It encourages socialization, stimulates activity and is strong and friendly. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange also represents fascination, creativity, determination, attraction, success and encouragement.

Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity.

Maybe that explains my reaction to these amazing cashmere-lined driving gloves?!! They are so buttery soft. Love.

And congratulations to a shade of orange for being the Pantone color of the year--Tangerine Tango.

Black is the New Black: What Does That Say?

Next up on the color bar is the perennial favorite color in handbags...Black.

Black is a mysterious color, and just like red, it sends mixed messages. Black can symbolize negativity, mourning and fear of the unknown. It is the absence of color, the primordial void, emptiness.

But black also represents elegance, formality, sophistication, power and prestige. And of course it makes the wearer look thinner. *

Physically, black can make you feel inconspicuous, subdued and even safe. Wearing black offers a blank canvas.

As you can see in the above photo collage, Hester van Eeghen loves to use black as a palette to showcase other colors. Often these bold colors are hidden and revealed as surprises as a bag is filled. Or, as is the case with the Multicolor Gloves, the colors are revealed when you wave your fingers!

Many people wear black clothing and carry black bags but few report black as a favorite color (or absence of color). How does black make you feel? Is black still the new black?

Sometimes I look at Hester van Eeghen's designs and I swear they belong in a gallery. Her work actually is in a Dutch museum and many museum shops around the world.
